Take precautions against dengue fever when travelling abroad
Dengue fever is now endemic in more than 100 countries in Africa, the Americas, the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific. This includes various popular tourist destinations for Hong Kong people including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Travellers planning to travel in these areas should take precautions against the disease. Travellers returning from areas where dengue fever is prevalent should seek medical advice as soon as possible if they feel unwell and provide travel details to their doctors.

Take precautions against Mpox (also known as monkeypox) when travelling abroad
Mpox (also known as monkeypox) is a zoonotic disease caused by Mpox virus. Often found in tropical forest regions of Central and West Africa.
It is mainly transmitted by contact with infected animals, human-to-human transmission is limited. Incubation period is mainly from 6 to 13 days, symptoms are similar with Smallpox infection, but less severe.
Since 6 May 2022, multiple outbreaks wer
e reported in Europe and North America countries, and many patient are self-identified as bisexual or men who have sex with men. Travellers planning to travel in these areas should avoid contact
with infected person. Travellers returning from these areas shall notify the doctor to seek medical treatment and inform the travel situation if feeling unwell.

Argentina Ministry of Health reports 2,845 confirmed
dengue cases during the 2024/2025 dengue season, since 21 July 2024.
Democratic Republic of Congo: Unknown Disease [Update]

The Minister of Public Health, Hygiene and Social Security of the Democratic Republic of Congo reports a total of 27 new cases and 1 death were recorded from 10 to 16 March, bringing the total to 2,957 total cases and 58 deaths.
USA: Measles [Update]

West Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Ohio, and Oklahoma health officials continue to report new cases of
measles, including one death of an unvaccinated child in West Texas.
USA: Hantavirus [Update]

hantavirus case/death this month. A third case is currently under investigation.
Réunion: Chikungunya Fever [Update]

La Reunion Island reports 4,156 new local
chikungunya fever cases during the week ending on 16 March, a 16% increase compared to the previous week.
Mauritius: Chikungunya Fever

Mauritius reported a locally transmitted
Chikungunya case on 15 March, the first Chikungunya case in the country since 2009.
Australia: Dengue Fever

Dengue outbreak since 19 February, and currently has 9 confirmed and 2 probably cases through 25 March.
Brazil: Yellow Fever [Update]

Yellow fever fatalities in the state since December 2024, through February 2025.
Uruguay: Dengue Fever

Uruguay Ministry of Public Health confirmed a case of autochthonous
Dengue fever in Montevideo and launched a control operation in the affected area.
Namibia: Malaria [Update]

In a follow-up on the
Malaria outbreak in
Namibia, a country on the west coast of Southern Africa, the Ministry of Health and Social Services is now reporting a total of 20,135 malaria cases as of March 9, 2025.
Cambodia: Avian Influenza [Update]

The
Cambodia Ministry of Health is reporting a
H5N1 Avian influenza case in a 3.5 year old child from Kratie province.
Russia: Meningococcal Meningitis
25 March 2025
An outbreak of
Meningococcal infection occurred in
Cherepovets, Vologda Oblast, among migrants involved in the construction of facilities at the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant. Twelve foreign citizens were hospitalized, four of whom were discharged, according to the Vologda Oblast Health Ministry.

Reunion: Chikungunya Fever [Update]
