As of 8 October, the Ministry of Health of Singapore has reported 4 473 cases of Dengue Fever and 17 cases of Haemorrhagic Dengue Fever this year.

Indonesia: Avian Influenza, human
The Ministry of Health of Indonesia announced an 1-year-old girl from West Jakarta district was confirmed to be infected with H5N1 Avian Influenza. Of the 179 cases confirmed to date in Indonesia, 147 have been fatal.

Iran: Avian Influenza, poultry
Two outbreaks of H5N1 Avian Influenza affecting thousands of birds were reported in Mazandaran of Iran.

In Madagascar, there was a pneumonic Plague epidemic in the district of Miarinarivo located in the province of Antananarivo. One person died of the disease and 5 other persons were treated at the hospital.

In USA, the Delaware Public Health Laboratory confirmed Delaware's first case of Tularemia since 2003, in a 45-year-old man from Kent County.

As widespread violent clashes occurred in many cities across Syria, including Daraa, Latakia, Damascus, Baniyas, Aleppo, Homs and Hama, resulting in serious casualties, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has raised the Outbound Travel Alert (OTA) for Syria to Black. Residents are urged to avoid all travel to the country. Those already there should attend to their personal safety and avoid protests and large gatherings of people.

Philippines: Black Travel Alert
Following the hostage taking incident in the Philippines which had caused casualties, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has raised the Outbound Travel Alert (OTA) for the Philippines to Black. Hong Kong residents are urged to avoid all travel to the Philippines. Those already there should attend to their personal safety and stay alert.
