As of 1 April, 5 164 confirmed cases of Dengue Fever and 3 cases of Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever have been recorded in Argentina, of whom 2 died.
In Brazil, as of 31 March, 126 139 suspected cases of Dengue Fever have been recorded, of whom 23 died.

In Makkah of Saudi Arabia, 139 cases of Dengue Fever were reported in the first three months of this year.

In Vietnam, more than 310 cases of Dengue Fever were treated in a hospital in Can Tho City so far this year. Most patients came from Can Tho City, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces.

In Australia, Dengue Fever cases in north Queensland climbed up to 935, the worst outbreak in almost 20 years. Most of the cases were reported in Cairns.

As of 5 April 2009, more than 19 000 cases of Measles with 150 deaths were reported in Burkina Faso. The number of infections is 10 times more than that reported in any year since 1997.

Vietnam: Avian Influenza, human
Viet Nam has reported a new confirmed fatal case of human H5N1 Avian Influenza infection. The case is a 3- year-old boy from Chau Thanh District, Dong Thap Province. Investigations into the source of infection indicated a history of close contact with sick and dead poultry prior to the onset of symptoms.
Of the 110 cases confirmed to date in Viet Nam, 55 have been fatal.
